About

We are the NAACP

We are the home of grassroots activism for civil rights and social justice.

We are one of more than 2,200 units across the nation, powered by well over 2 million activists.

In our cities, schools, companies, and courtrooms, we are the legacy of W.E.B. Dubois, Ida B. Wells, Thurgood Marshall, and many other giants of civil rights.

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of Black people and all persons of color.

The NAACP was founded on the beliefs embodied in the Constitution of the United States of America. We support democracy, dignity and freedom.

Our members, in keeping with the charge of our founders, stand against all forms of injustice. The United States of America, built by us all, belongs to all of us. The repayment for our labor is equity and justice for all. We continue to fight for justice until all, without regard to race, gender, creed, or religion enjoy equal status.
